I’m a bit of an introvert, someone who sticks close to family and works hard to be the best role model I can for my kids. But despite being quiet, I’ve found deep connection in this work, I genuinely enjoy building relationships with people with disabilities, maybe more than most. For over 7 years I’ve worked in complex behaviours, high intensity care and child protection. I’ve supported many participants as their key worker, helping them through
challenges and celebrating their growth. My wife Nyree and I started Integrity Empowered Living because we saw how the industry was becoming too corporate. We wanted to build something different, something human. We’re here to raise the standard of support and reward everyone involved.
We believe in doing what’s meaningful, not what’s convenient. And we are here to back that with action every day. Outside of work, I’m happiest walking the beach with my family, training at the gym and building something that matters.

I’ve been in the industry for over 20 years now, and honestly, I don’t know my life without being in some type of disability role. It’s always been part of who I am. Both of my parents are deaf and worked at Vincents Industries when I was growing up, so supporting people with disability has never felt like a job, it’s just where I’ve always felt at home. I’m a mum first, to a beautiful daughter and a baby boy, and that’s shaped the way I approach everything. I might not be as gym-obsessed as Thomas, but I’m definitely more outgoing. You’ll find me out on the floor, meeting participants, checking in with workers, or jumping in to help wherever it’s needed. I’m not one to sit behind a desk. I believe support happens in real time, face to face, with people who show up, listen, and care. That’s what I bring to IEL. For us, it’s simple. If everything we need is in our four walls, then it’s our job to make sure our participants feel safe, heard, and happy in theirs.

I’ve been a Support Worker for 6 years, working primarily with high intensity clients. I hold a Certificate IV in Disability and believe that my personal traits — being confident, patient, adaptive, respectful, and reliable — combined with my experience as a dad of two, make me a valuable force in this field. I hold high standards and genuinely want the best for the people I care for. I’m passionate about health and movement, and outside of work, I’m a dedicated runner

Susan Wheldon

Hey everyone! I’m Susan, a support worker at Integrity Empowered Living. Becoming a parent ignited my passion for a person-centered approach, every individual is unique, and I love tailoring care to fit their needs. Parenthood has given me patience, adaptability, and a deep understanding of the importance of fostering independence with kindness. I can find the fun in any activity, enjoy trying new things, and my warm, stable presence helps create a positive atmosphere, even through challenging times. No matter the situation, I strive to bring energy, creativity, and calm support to make every day fulfilling.

Brenton Filz

I’ve worn a lot of hats in my life — catalogue delivery boy, Navy sailor, apprentice, carpenter, concreter, guitarist, powerlifter, ultra runner, university student, business owner, youth mentor, loyal friend, brother, boyfriend… and now, a proud husband and girl dad.

I’ve always been drawn to challenge and growth; I chase the unknown and thrive when I’m outside my comfort zone. Life has been nothing short of fulfilling, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Michelle Richards

I’ve been working as a support worker for the past five years, and honestly, I couldn’t imagine doing anything else. Disability support was always the career path I felt drawn to, and caring for others came naturally, especially after growing up alongside my two brothers, both of whom had Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.

I pride myself on being reliable, respectful, and someone who brings both confidence and genuine care into every shift. I naturally lean into a nurturing, “motherly” role, and over the years I’ve supported a wide range of participants with diverse and complex care needs.

Outside of work, I’m a proud mum of three amazing adult children, all of whom have grown into incredibly responsible people. They’ve now made me a grandmother to three beautiful grandkids (and fingers crossed more to come!). When I’m not on shift or with family, you’ll usually find me getting stuck into home renovations, I’m loving every minute of transforming my space.
